IRONBBRATZ Exhibition & Afterparty Success!

o all week I've been manically busy helping out my friends at the IRONBBRATZ gallery set up there show, FTPA, at 174 Saltmarket.

Monday - We got flyers and business cards printed at Mailboxes Etc. on Woodlands road for a very reasonable price and great quality prints. Collected the keys to the space, met with the artists ready to view/install work in the space and had to be in the space at all times while artists were there for insurance purposes.

Tuesday - The van run. A friend helped move some of the artists work down to the space and Jessie and I began working on screenprinting the t-shirts. Artists were in installing and again we had to be there for insurance purposes.

Wednesday - More artists in to install work - the show begins to really to come together. Waiting while artists install.

Thursday - The night of the opening. Cake baking in the morning to sell at the show. During the day all the artists were finishing up installing, lighting their work and we were all getting the space looking clean and professional for the opening. The beer run also had to take place during the day which meant a lot of heavy lifting.

The exhibition went brilliantly! Estimated at over 100 people through the doors and the work was very well received. Everyone had a great time.

Then up to Nice 'n' Sleazys for the afterparty. Here's the flyer designed by Robbie Thomson.

The afterparty went fantastically as well and it was a very successful event all round! What a very eventful week.

last minuteness

So this week I was frantically drawing in order to get my commission done for my client on Tuesday - got it done on Tuesday at half 5! It was the toughest one yet as I was drawing a young boy and its hard not to make young people look like they're made of porcelein hehe.

Also this week, been going through the gruelling SAAS reapplication for funding - so many pages and so many questions! Just gimmie the money! hehe.

On the up side though, since the drawing has been complete I've felt my creative juices flowing again and so started my design of my personalised My Little Pony stencil for the bathroom wall :D
My pony is called 'Bingo Wings' :) hehe My flatmates one is called 'Muffintop'...can you see a theme emerging there? Looking forward to getting the flat up to scratch and putting the finishing touches on the bathroom and finally getting my room painted. So lots to do next week!

Well now I'm off to take a tour with a prospective student. Au revoir!

Clumsiness

Hello, not updated in a while due to a rather painful but funny incident. I was doing some work in the McLellan galleries last week and at the top of a set of marble staircases, my weak knee gave way, causing me to go over on my ankle and go flying down the stairs, finally landing in a crumpled heap on the landing. Hilarious, yes but my ability to walk was severely impaired for a week. Here's hoping there wasn't any CCTV cameras pointing in my direction when that happened.

In other news, I have a drawing to complete as a gift for a member of my family who is turning 80. Its a double portrait of my two cousins (her great grandkids). Needs to be done by the 22nd so going to need to make a start on that quite urgently. Pictures will be posted when it's complete.

9lbs

Oh and in other news - the stress from those unforseen circumstances has gave me a kick start on my weight loss regime, lost 9lbs in a week and a half. Yes! Just need to try to keep going now, I've been having a pint of freshly made smoothie for breakie in the mornings and that seems to be helping.

Hull Convention & Sheffield UCAS Event

So last week I had my first out of Scotland Higher Education Convention in Hull, then one through in Sheffield the following day. So on Sunday I spent most of my day travelling down on the train. The train went down the east coast which was beautiful. When I arrived in Hull, I checked straight into my hotel which was gorgeous and had free wifi access so I had plenty to do to keep myself occupied. Unfortunately though, regardless of how nice the room was, I can't sleep well in a foreign place for the first couple of nights so I had a pretty restless sleep.

Monday morning it was off to Hull University to set up for the convention. The university was massive and I was really impressed by its facilities and friendly staff. There was quite a lot of interest in the GSA from the students there, especially in the design fields and architecture.

After the convention it was straight on the train through the sheffield. Busy busy! I was amazed at how lovely the city of Sheffield was, there was a gorgeous big fountain/sculpture thing outside the train station. Seeing such a lovely thing on arrival made it hard for me to find fault anywhere else I had wondered throughout the city. The hotel in Sheffield was ok - nice room, but charged for wifi which was disappointing. So I sat watching tv most of the night and reading my book. I slept a bit better there before my journey next morning to the Sheffield Areana.

The Sheffield UCAS Event was really professional - had my own wee booth and everything! The prospectus were flying off the table consistently throughout the day which was really good.

I must admit, it was tiring jumping from place to place so I was glad to be back home in Glasgow when I got back.

In other news, my much anticipated weekend away to T in the Park has been cancelled. Unforseen circumstances have got in the way so no weekend in wellies for me. Bah! :(
