Hull Convention & Sheffield UCAS Event

So last week I had my first out of Scotland Higher Education Convention in Hull, then one through in Sheffield the following day. So on Sunday I spent most of my day travelling down on the train. The train went down the east coast which was beautiful. When I arrived in Hull, I checked straight into my hotel which was gorgeous and had free wifi access so I had plenty to do to keep myself occupied. Unfortunately though, regardless of how nice the room was, I can't sleep well in a foreign place for the first couple of nights so I had a pretty restless sleep.

Monday morning it was off to Hull University to set up for the convention. The university was massive and I was really impressed by its facilities and friendly staff. There was quite a lot of interest in the GSA from the students there, especially in the design fields and architecture.

After the convention it was straight on the train through the sheffield. Busy busy! I was amazed at how lovely the city of Sheffield was, there was a gorgeous big fountain/sculpture thing outside the train station. Seeing such a lovely thing on arrival made it hard for me to find fault anywhere else I had wondered throughout the city. The hotel in Sheffield was ok - nice room, but charged for wifi which was disappointing. So I sat watching tv most of the night and reading my book. I slept a bit better there before my journey next morning to the Sheffield Areana.

The Sheffield UCAS Event was really professional - had my own wee booth and everything! The prospectus were flying off the table consistently throughout the day which was really good.

I must admit, it was tiring jumping from place to place so I was glad to be back home in Glasgow when I got back.

In other news, my much anticipated weekend away to T in the Park has been cancelled. Unforseen circumstances have got in the way so no weekend in wellies for me. Bah! :(
