The last week of April my boyfriend and his younger brother came to visit and we went driving around the northern parts of Scotland, from Glasgow to Inverness, stopping in Stirling. Then onwards around the Black Isle going north to Thurso, stopping at Dunrobin Castle, Whaligo steps and cairns. In Thurso we found a restaurant serving the best, I mean absolutely BEST indian food I have had! The next day we went to see the Duncansby Stacks and then drove east to Smoo Cave before heading south to Ullapool. We spent the night in a wonderful B&B, I think we were almost the first people staying there, as they were in the process of redecorating. At night we went to the local pub to have whiskey when we dumped into a bunch of people having their weekly gathering at the pub to sing folksongs etc. We had the best time! The last we spent on Isle of Skye were we visited the Isle of Skye brewery and Talisker Distillery. From the brewery we bought more than 20different ales and beers to have our own tasting when we got back to the flat. Coming back to Glasgow late in the evening it was really nice to have a box of ales waiting to be tasted. For our trip we rented a car for almost a week. It was't particularly expensive and allows you to go everywhere whenever you want. However I have been thinking of going myself, but using publiv transportation. It is truly amazing where you can find railways.
